Tiberius is a town on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee. It was named in honor of the emperor Tiberius. Tiberius was built at about AD 20 by Herod Antipas the son of Herod the Great on the site of the destroyed village of Rakkat. It became the capital of his realm in Galilee. Tiberius´s name in the Roman Empire (and consequently the form most used in English) was its Greek form, an adaptation of the taw-suffixed Semitic form that preserved its feminine grammatical gender. Safed, or as pronounced Tsfat, is a northern city in the North region of Israel, which is considered to be a holy one for the Jews, along with cities like Jerusalem and Tiberius. The city is located on a mountainous region that rises up to 900 meters, which makes it unique. Today the city is mostly known for artistic characters such as cobblestone streets.
